Lamb Roast Offered After International Polo Match
One
of the premier matches of Newport
International Polo Series will feature
USA
vs.
Ireland
, followed by an authentic Asado Lamb Roast on Saturday, July 29th
The Asado
tradition, spit-roasting lamb for hours over hot coals until it is
fork-tender, has become a part of international polo culture, hand in hand
with the influence and dominance of Argentine players in the sport.
The lambs are split lengthwise and fastened to a spit. Hot coals are
shoveled underneath for a long, slow roasting process. The meat is
seasoned with special herbs and spices.
The meal will be served field-side,
under the main tent at the Newport International Polo Series, following
the
USA
vs.
Ireland
match. Both teams will be in attendance. Asado tickets
are $35/person and can be purchased with a credit card by calling

. Seating is limited, and all reservations must be paid in advance,
no later than July 25th. Cash bar. Polo match

The
polo match begins at 5pm on the polo grounds of Glen Farm on route 138 in
Portsmouth

and will be approximately 2 hours in duration, followed by the Asado.
One of the highlights of the season, this annual rivalry will feature
USA
playing against
Ireland
, who returns to
Newport
for their 15th consecutive match in the Polo Series.
