International Wine Tasting Benefit

June 6, 2006,  Newport, RI: ...The second annual International Wine Tasting, co-hosted by USA polo team captain and wine expert - Dan Keating, and the Scottish Polo Team, will take place on Friday, June 16th from 6-8pm at the historic Malbone Estate in Newport.

The tasting will feature an extensive collection of boutique, estate wines from the great wine growing regions of the world. Featured will be sparkling wines, chilled white and rose wines, red wines, dessert wines and Scotch whiskeys. Wine professionals will be on hand to describe the character and other details of the wines.

The event takes place at historic Malbone Estate, a National Historic Landmark located on Malbone Road in Newport. The Gothic-style castle built in 1741 of pink sandstone, is the oldest privately owned mansion in Newport, situated on 17 acres on Malbone Road in Newport. The Estate is known for its architectural grandeur and magnificent gardens which include a sunken garden and the largest private collection of beech trees in the Northeast. During his historic visit to Newport in 1766, President George Washington dined at Malbone. The Estate is generously donated for the wine tasting by its owners, the J. H. Leach Family.

Proceeds from the tasting benefit the Newport Polo Education Foundation, a non-profit 501[3]c organization registered in Rhode Island with a mission to support and develop training and educational programs surrounding the sport of polo, as well as other civic and charitable causes.
