Jacki started riding at the age of seven and
never looked back. Running her own barn on Aquidneck Island training
Arabians and saddle horses for over twenty years she coupled this
with a strong program teaching newcomers and experienced riders
the appropriate skills to go with the horses.
Jacki
has held Regional and National Titles in five disciplines - side
saddle, show hack, English pleasure, Hunter pleasure.
Jacki started playing polo four years ago and
has gone on to become a major force in women's polo in the NE. This
will be Jacki's second season teaching women's polo at the club.
Jacki notes that women are able to play on equal terms with men
but for different reasons. She notes that many women already know
how to ride well and simply need teaching the stick and ball skills.
On the other hand many men have the hand/eye coordination for the
stick and ball part but don't have the horsemanship skills. The
result is that the different skill sets balance out and men and
women can play on equal terms.
Jacki also stresses that polo is one of the
few horse competitions that is about camaraderie, working together
as a team and is above all FUN! For this reason she truly enjoys
polo over other horse competition. To meet Jacki join the women's
polo program - details are on the calendar
and you can book a place by contacting
the Club.
